Stichting PLUIMED and GMP+ International have signed a collaboration agreement. PLUIMNED is the scheme holder of IKB Kip. For many years now, poultry farms participating in IKB Kip must purchase the feed from GMP+ FSA (Feed Safety Assurance) certified feed suppliers. With the agreement, both scheme holders have documented their commitment to continue the collaboration in the chain as well as the method of mutual information exchange. This way, the mutual coordination in the feed-poultry meat chain is optimized further.
The main activity of PLUIMNED is the management of the quality scheme IKB Kip for the entire poultry chain, mainly active in Europe. This way, all links involved in the production of IKB Kip poultry meat (from breeding to processing) provide guarantees about the way of production, such as the quality and quality assurance. In addition, requirements are defined for feed suppliers, veterinarians and other service providers involved (such as collection and loading teams). The feed suppliers are required to be GMP+ FSA, or equivalently certified. IKB Kip has a total of 2200 participants in a total of 11 European countries. Over 50% of the participants are located in the Netherlands, and there are relatively many participants in Germany, Poland and Denmark.
GMP+ International is the internationally leading manager of the GMP+ Feed Safety Assurance (FSA) certification scheme. It operates based on well-balanced stakeholder participation in the feed and food chain. In that, it also seeks partnership with Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) codes for livestock farms and fish farms, such as IKB Kip, to realize optimal mutual coordination in the entire production chain. Currently, there are more than 16500 GMP+ FSA certified feed and feed related companies in 80 countries.
Cooperation between Stichting PLUIMNED en GMP+ International envisions good mutual coordination of the requirements regarding safe feed for the production of poultry meat and good information exchange about any food safety risks. The mutual collaboration is also to contribute to fast and adequate actions where necessary.
