Changes in GMP+ BA1 “Specific Feed Safety Limits”
Thursday, December 13, 2018
Recently, the International Expert Committee (IEC) decided to implement several changes in GMP+ BA1 “Specific Feed Safety Limits”.
The changes are available in the updated GMP+ BA1 and it concerns:
- Plastics (old code - F1): This contaminant has been replaced by "Packaging material (F30)”. Packaging materials are fibres of paper and board, fragments of plastic, aluminum foil and metal, plastic clips, metal wires, etc.
The new standard is not only limited to plastic particles but also to other types of foreign physical bodies coming from the packing materials.
Consequence for the GMP+ Monitoring database. As of today the code F1 cannot be used to enter new analysis results, but it is still possible to make reports of historic data. Code F30 is now available in the GMP+ Monitoring database.
- Polyethylene (old code - F2) : The product group for which the standard applies has been changed. Furthermore, other corrections have been made:
- the hazard code F2 is replaced by C134 and
- in the risk assessments, the hazard name “Packaging material: among others Polyethylene” is replaced by “Polyethylene”.
Consequence for the GMP+ Monitoring database. As of today the code F2 cannot be used to enter new analysis results, but it is still possible to make reports of historic data. Code C134 is now available in the GMP+ Monitoring database.
- Radioactivity (F26): EU Regulation is updated. The new regulation does not concern changes of limits;
- T-2 and HT-2 toxin, Sum of (C113): an error in the reference to legislation is corrected (only in the Dutch version)
