The United States of America Government launched the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) in 2011 with several internationally accepted principles for food and feed safety assurance. There is a substantial overlap between FSMA and GMP+ Feed Safety Assurance standards.
GMP+ FSA certified companies which are active in the United States of America (USA) in the production of feed ingredients must comply with the requirements set by national legislation (FSMA). If you are GMP+ FSA certified, you can benefit twofold: (largely) compliance with FSMA requirements and with internationally accepted principles with regard to feed safety assurance.
It is also helpful for companies exporting towards the USA to show that they comply with the FSMA.
The new GMP+ D2.7 Comparison between FSMA (USA) and GMP+ B2 standard is the result of the joint work with GMP+ International and SGS North America (SGS Food Services).
This comparison can help companies to identify the overlap between the standard GMP+ B2 ‘Production of feed Ingredients’ and the requirements stipulated in the USA feed legislation.
