Combining a Feed and Food safety scheme: New Guidance launched

Thursday, February 27, 2020

GMP+ International launched a new GMP+ Certification Guidance that will support food companies to obtain a GMP+ FSA certificate in addition to a FSSC 22000 certificate.

The new GMP+ D 5.2 Certification guidance for FSSC 22000 certified companies is now available on our website.

This document is a supporting document aimed to help food producing companies to identify the specific GMP+ requirements which need to be implemented in addition to the FSSC 22000 standard in order to obtain full GMP+ FSA certification.

This document gives guidance to a certification body to apply the certification rules from both schemes during one audit and certification procedure.

The combined audit possibility for the FSSC 22000 and GMP+  certification schemes avoids overlap and double cost and provides two certificates to companies.

This guidance is interesting for a producer of both food and feed products. But also dairy companies or breweries. For example, oil seed crushers, wheat millers and other cereal processors.

They produce products for the human food industry (oil, flour, starch, milk, beer, etc.) while the by-products are sold to the animal feed market.
