GMP+ FC 2020 scheme: how do I prepare?

The first steps by way of preparation

In July 2020, we posted the preliminary draft documents of the GMP+ Feed Certification scheme (GMP+ FC) on our website. It is important to us that we involve the GMP+ Community in the process leading to publication and we want to be transparent about how the documents are produced. Despite the fact that the documents have still to be redesigned, this does give an insight into what the structure and approach of the updated GMP+ FSA and GMP+ FRA documents will be. Of course, no concessions have been made in terms of animal feed safety as regards the current scheme and the future scheme.  We recommend that you go through these documents by way of preparation. This will help to familiarise the GMP+ Community with the new documents.

Support

In our previous newsletter, we looked at the various support documents which are available to help the GMP+ Community with the implementation of the GMP+ FC scheme. Examples include a reference and differences table and various FAQ and support documents. There are also GMP+ registered consultants who can help you with the implementation of GMP+ FSA or GMP+ FRA.

Transitional period

From the publication of the updated GMP+ FC scheme, there will be a transitional period of 3 years. This gives the GMP+ Community plenty of time to make the transition. This means that businesses that currently have everything in order are already well on their way. No concessions have been made in terms of animal feed safety as regards the current scheme and the future scheme.

Planning

As stated above, the draft documents are currently in the hands of the Accreditation Board. We cannot yet say when the review will be completed. Our aim is still to publish the renewed GMP+ Feed Certification scheme in 2020. We recommend that you sign up for our GMP+ newsletter.
